Can Radio Shack Break Into The Home Entertainment World?

Wal-Mart, Piggly Wiggly, Winn Dixie – these are just a few of the stores that offer their own line of products. Now, we can add one more to the list. From the store that has specialized in electronics and electronic accessories, we have the Cinego brand in home theater systems. But, has Radio Shack made it in the Home Entertainment World?

Cinego projectors are not currently available from Radio Shack, although you can still purchase Cinego projector replacement lamps. The lamp for Cinego projectors can be found in Radio Shack stores and on the Radio Shack website – although currently you will need to be placed on a waiting list for a back-in-stock email.

The Cinego projector has received mixed reviews from customers. Some thought it was better than expected, while others were not impressed with the performance of the product. The Cinego projector sold for around $1000 – and for that, I think consumers expected just a little more innovation than Radio Shack could provide.

Amazon.com has three used and new projectors listed starting at around $500 – but, I would be cautious about purchasing one if the replacement parts are not going to be readily available. By shopping around, you could probably find a used system or refurbished system for around that price from a more trusted name in home entertainment.

Stay With What You Know

One lesson that can be taken from this is that knowing how to sell a product does not always mean that you can produce a product. A person can stand in a store and sell Coca-Cola’s all day long, but could not necessarily come up with their own soda product to compete with Coke.

Overall, I think that the Cinego projector from Radio Shack would be a bad investment – even if you can get it for a couple of hundred bucks on Ebay. If you can’t find replacement parts, even from Radio Shack, you would just be out of luck – and in the end would only have to purchase another brand projector. No matter what kind of performance you get from a product, maintenance is one of the most important steps you can take – unless you can maintain your product, you are simply wasting your money.

Radio Shack has long been an excellent source for your electronic needs. Their sales and service meet the expectations of consumers. Radio Shack – stick with what you do so well and leave the invention and production to the experts!
