Standing Alone
Most projectors can be used from a tabletop – or you may want to purchase a projector stand for just the right angle. If your home theater is going to be stationary, a projector stand may be something that you will want to purchase. There are many styles of projector stands to choose from, so a little research may be needed to find the best projector stand to meet your needs. You can find projector stands for video projector and for overhead projectors, adjustable projector stands and stationary projector stands, and even angled projector stands. So, as you can see, the right projector stand for you will be a matter of choice and budget. You can find cheap projector stands that start at around $ 40 or you can shop around for a more expensive stand to suit your needs. Not all projector stands have to be stationary – there are portable projector stands that can be easily folded and carried from room to room or place to place. If you use an overhead projector in a classroom or boardroom, you may want to consider a projector stand with a seat attached. Standing for very long presentations can be a hassle, and this will allow the presenter to sit, especially when watching video clips and not speaking to the audience. By having a seat on your overhead projector stand, this will also allow room for more people in the room because there will be no need to keep the space behind the speaker empty – the audience will not be viewing the presentation with the projector operator in the way. Having a seat in your projector stand will also work if you need one person to operate the projector and one person on a stage presenting the information. Protect Your Projector One thing to keep in mind when deciding on the right projector stand for you is protecting your projector – you do not want a stand that will not hold up. Although most projectors do not weigh over 5 or 6 pounds, you want to be sure that your projector stand does not wobble and is placed where it will not be knocked over. If you use your projector in a crowded room, especially in a room where there will be children moving around, you best option may be to go for one of the more expensive, sturdier projector stands. If you have to replace your projector or replace your projector lamps over and over because of the projector getting knocked off of the shelf, you have not saved any money by purchasing a cheap projector stand. As with any accessory, there are several things to think of before making a purchase, but with a little thought and research, your projector will not have to stand-alone.
